Uruguay reached the final of the ODESUR Games in women’s soccer and was defeated by Venezuela in penalty kicks.
Uruguay came through the group stage with ease, beating Colombia 2-0 and also the difficult Argentina 5-1. These wins allowed them to be the first in their group and reach the final against Venezuela.
The skilful Solange Lemos and Belén Aquino scored the goals of the game that ended 2-2. In the penalty shootout, the vinotinto were more effective than the team coached by Daniel Pérez.
We congratulate the entire squad and especially our represented Lucía Cufré for obtaining the silver medal, so important for the development of soccer and women’s sports in Uruguay.
