Mathías “Zorrito” Suárez joined our team. The fullback plays for Montpellier Herault, in Ligue 1.
He has played for Nacional and Montevideo City Torque, after coming from Defensor Sporting. In the violets he won the 2017 Apertura Tournament, in a great campaign.
Suarez made the whole process of the Uruguayan national team until he played three matches, two of them as a starter with the senior team. They were precisely against Brazil and France, in 2018. His last participation was in the 4-0 victory against Thailand in 2019, although he then joined the substitutes’ bench against Hungary and Argentina.
With the light blue he won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Canada 2015, where he played all five games as a starter and assisted Andrés Schetino for the winning goal in the semifinal against Brazil 2-1.
